Why raise snails?

Snails have been consumed by humans for millennia. But North Americans are only now discovering that snails, once thought of as exclusive to French cuisine, are a versatile, sustainable, and delicious food source, rich in protein, selenium, and other vitamins and minerals.

But short of a few suppliers located in North America, most of the snails consumed in the U.S. and Canada imported in cans from Europe, North Africa, and Asia. But snails can be successfully grown on in the U.S. It just takes research, knowledge of the regulations, space, time, financial investment, and most of all, perseverance.
